The CAMRA Good Beer Guide 2013 is now out, CAMRA stands for the Campaign for Real Ale who are an independent, voluntary organisation campaigning for real ale, community pubs and consumer rights.
The Good Beer Guide 2013 is the 40th edition of the UK’s best-selling beer & pub guide. Every year though it is fully updated to feature the best pubs across the UK that serve Real Ale.
The Pub Guide is an independent guide, pubs can’t pay to get in. Instead listings are based on votes from CAMRA members, that’s real ale drinkers and pub diners like you and me! So every pub on the list deserves their place.
As well as listing pubs a Breweries Chapter details all breweries that produce real ale in the UK and the beers they are known for. It truly is all breweries, not just the national breweries but regional and micro too! Beers also contain tasting notes, so if your off on holiday or looking for a good hike you can plan it past a CAMRA recognised pub and know which Ale to pick!
There are only a few Amazon reviews so far as this book is right up to date, but so far its 5 out of 5 with reviews including -
an essential purchase for anyone looking for GOOD BEER. This is NOT a guide to good food, luvverly ambience, attractive thatch or any other nonsense. An honest description is given ie; parking, bus routes, garden, noisy/quiet, food (Grrr)and an OS grid ref for out-in-the-sticks boozers. This is compiled by CAMRA members for no reward, no vested interests or industry back-handers.
As ever top quality information about our local pubs countrywide. I travel a lot & so this book lives with me so I can always get myself a pint or 2 (maybe more) of excellent real ale.
Leave us a comment and let us know your favourite pub or your favourite ale! - I know it’s hard to choose just one, my pick is Darkstar Hophead
