As campers we are used to seeing stove manufacturers trying to out do each other every year, stoves get smaller, more powerful, have multifuel, or are designed completely differently like the Jetboil range. However there is one company which seemingly never changes and holds a special place in many campers hearts. You’ve guessed it the Trangia stove. Any conversation I have with friends about new stoves will always come back to the Trangia
A brief history of the Trangia
Trangia was founded in 1925 by John E. Jonsson, together with his father-in-law, started the company that has dominated the Swedish storm-proof stove industry for more than half a century. The company and the ingenuity have since been passed down to new generations of the family. The basic original design of the Trangia is still at the company’s heart today, the design has just been developed and refined over the last 60 years.
Today Trangia’s are available either with the traditional spirit burner or a gas burner. Their simplistic system is storm proof and there is also an Ultralight Aluminium range which is 21% lighter than the matching original range.
The Trangia 25k pictured above comes complete with -
